Jessica Gilliam-Valls — Music~Lower School Strings

Dr. Valls joined the faculty in 2009. She received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin College, Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in December of 2010. In addition to teaching with The Girls' School, Dr. Valls is adjunct music faculty at Huston-Tillotson University and teaches with the Austin Chamber Music Center. She served as Interim Director of the UT String Project and currently has a private studio of over 15 double bass and violin students. A bass player of many genres of music, Jessica performs with the Austin and San Antonio Symphonies, as well as in jazz, tango and bluegrass bands, and is a frequent soloist and chamber musician.
