News from Dr. Rita
The weather and extended "vacation" in January threw off the schedule a bit. While we enjoyed the days off, catching up is a challenge.
I would like to say a most sincere thank you to Keith Snodgrass who is stepping down as Board Chair after 3 ½ years of dedicated service. Keith has been steadfast through the changes and growth of GSA. He has been instrumental in establishing the school and has seen it flourish over the years. I am personally grateful for his support during my tenure as interim Head of School this year. He has been a wise and available sounding board for me without treading on the day-to-day operations of the school. I am also grateful that Keith has agreed to remain a member of the Board as we move into the next phase of a growing school and permanent Head of School selection.
We welcome two new members of the faculty. Mrs. Linda Elliott took over the 4th grade and Mrs. Janell Cottam Hargrave the art/ sculpture position when we returned from the Winter Holiday.
They are experienced and very competent professionals who have stepped into their positions seamlessly. Our thanks and best wishes go to Mrs. Nathan and Mrs. Vaughn for their service and hope that their health concerns improve quickly.
My thanks to the many volunteers of the GSA community. My job would be impossible if they were not available to take on projects which would normally be my responsibility. Thank you, thank you, thank you for getting all those things done that need to be done but wouldn't get done without your help.
Here is hoping that we have more moderate weather in the coming month! Best wishes,
Dr. Rita Sherbenou,Interim Head of School
