News from Dr. Rita
It has been a whirlwind at GSA as it often is at schools this time of year. There are so many activities and events at all grade levels and even across grade levels.

The recent talent show which was conceived and executed by the 6th grade class was a smashing success. Acts ranging from jump rope acrobatics, playing of musical instruments, singing and dancing were not only entertaining but another example of the extraordinary talents of our girls. Congratulations to all who participated and especially to the 6th grade class who looked like pros as they introduced and shuffled acts. It was truly a night of great entertainment!
The Lower School research papers were awesome! From 1st grade through 5th, each girl chose a topic, researched it, wrote about it and prepared a poster with “talking points” for a presentation to the public. It was wonderful to walk around and hear about their projects. I am still amazed at the level of sophistication exhibited in every grade. All the girls from 1st grade though 5th gave very articulate presentations for their ages. It was clear that they had “done the research, papers and presentations themselves.” Wow! I don't think I ever did a poster presentation until I was in graduate school. And I'll say it again, wow!

We are very excited about the appointment of Lisa Schmitt. She is a great educator and a lovely person with a delightful sense of humor. She and I are already involved in conversations about next year and collaborating in the decisions being made. It is a joy to work with her and I believe that she will bring expertise and excellence as we begin the next phase of development at GSA.
In some respects, the year is moving way too rapidly for me
personally. I am treasuring my year here. The entire atmosphere
— girls, classes and community - combines into a rare and
wonderful jewel. It is truly a special place and I am so blessed
to be a part of it for this year.
Best wishes,
Interim Head of School
