Spring Gala — A Great Success

It could have been an after-party for the Grammy Awards... but NO! It was the 2nd Annual GSA Gala at La Zona Rosa that had 225 people listening raptly to six women in the music industry tell about their heroes, most embarrassing moments and how much they really practiced their instruments as kids.

Martie Maguire, Kelly Willis, Sara Hickman, Marcia Ball, Darcie Deaville and Nancy Coplin gave GSA very personal glimpses into their lives as they answered questions posed by Big Jyl of gala-sponsor KGSR. Our seventh and eighth grade students had front row seats and an opportunity to meet the women backstage before the show.

After the panel discussion, Marcia, Sara and Darcie (with her band) blew away the audience with a merged brand of blues that brought dancers to the floor. Great food and a fabulous auction completed the evening. Early results indicate the gala raised between $20 and $25-thousand dollars for the school. The Gala Committee would like to thank everyone who came to the party and those who also bid on items in the silent and live auctions!
