Message From the Board

Uncertainty. A little is ok. There would be no opportunity without it. And as a parent it seems that some just comes with the territory. It does seem, however, that our world, our nation, and yes, our school has had more than our share of uncertainty recently. I know no more than anyone else about the rest of the world, but maybe a little more about The Girls' School. While I was at GSA this past weekend with Lisa, looking over another version of the site plan, it struck me how little real uncertainty we have. Change? No question. We are still a young school, and besides, we have over a hundred "change agents" roaming our campus every day. But we can be certain of those things that make this place special. Looking out years from now we will still have a unique, centrally-located campus, extraordinary teachers and staff who are deeply dedicated to the school and its students, and a feeling of community and values that keeps us all on track. These are things we can hold on tightly to with certainty.
There is change on our Board of Trustees. After three years on our Board, Sam Greer's tenure is up this month. Sam's steady hand and amazing experience in private education has been invaluable to this school. Having someone of his abilities and judgment on the Board has been of enormous help to me, to the Board, and to the school. Thanks, Sam. We will keep in touch.
I am very glad to say that Amber Bennett, our Board Treasurer, has volunteered to stay on another two years past her regular three year term that was up in October-an offer we accepted with enthusiasm and a bit of relief. Finding a replacement with her dedication and training would have been very hard. Amber is our voice of financial reason and she works closely with Lisa to make sure that our accounting and financial planning is proper, consistent, and correct. It will be a pleasure to have Amber with us a little bit longer. Whew.
Don Vail
GSA Board of Trustees, Chair
