The Zoo Man & Co.
By Kelly, 7th Grade student

On Friday, September 11 all of the grades in GSA gathered in the Courtyard for a special treat: the Zoo Man, from the Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary, and all of his friends.
The Zoo Man started with Avery, a sulfur-crested cockatoo, and ended with Chippy, a prairie dog from West Texas, and in the middle we met Jo Jo, the half-famous baby kangaroo. We learned quirky facts, including how fast a blue-tongued skink can go in a race (approximately 0 MPH), and asked lots of interesting questions. First grader Estelle and Second grader Audrey assisted the Zoo Man with Sausage the skink, while Fifth grader Madison helped out with an albino python named Banana.
In the middle of all this excitement we met Becky, a baby kinkajou, who wowed us all with her giant eyes and long, curly tail. With smiles, laughs, and learning all around, this special event made for a great start to the day.
