Upcoming Events for parents

GSA has two exciting events for parents coming up soon, both focused, at least in part, on the challenges of early adolescence.
On Wednesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m., we will welcome Carl Pickhardt, a psychologist, to speak about the challenges girls (and their parents) face during this important stage in life. Dr. Pickhardt spoke with GSA faculty before the school year began, and the staff found his talk so helpful that we thought he should share his insights with parents, too. The presentation is open to all parents, though those with students in grades 4 and up are especially encouraged to attend.
In addition, November 3 at 6:30 p.m. brings the first gathering of GSA's new parent/teacher book club. For our fall trimester get-together, we'll be discussing The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, by Wendy Mogel. This fascinating book details how the author, a psychologist, uses lessons from Judaism to help make children more self-reliant. Come join 7th grade adviser Lucas Schaefer for what we hope will be a lively discussion!
