Art Beat
By Nancy Hoover

November means Tie Dye! at GSA, and for two weeks this month, all classes experienced this project in preparation for our 4th Annual GSA ART SCARF SALE fundraiser, to be held during lunch (11:40 am -12:20 pm) Monday, Dec. 7 through Thursday, Dec. 10 in the GSA Art room. The proceeds from this sale provide all the funds for our art supplies. Look for an email about the presale, coming soon.
The Kindergarteners learned to tie and dye rainbow socks; 1st grade, beautiful bandanas; 2nd grade, spectacular silk scarves; 3rd grade, vivid velvet scarves; 4th grade, fabulous fringed shawls; and middle school, a combination of fashionable scarves, hats, and messenger bags. Hopefully, no uniforms were dyed during this process!

Most of the classes also saw the chemical mixing of the dyes and learned how colors are created, as we all donned our gloves and smocks and created our amazing art scarves. The middle schoolers will also market and handle all aspects of the sale, including free gift wrapping! Please plan on supporting this unique art event – wrap up your holidays! Family and friends are all welcome.
