Vision Statement and Goals

OUR VISION — The first choice for parents of girls, The Girl's School of Austin supports girls in developing the knowledge and skills to become energetic, capable, and responsible participants in the world.

OUR APPROACH — The Girls’ School offers a balanced and adaptable liberal arts curriculum, creatively designed to foster a love of learning and provide opportunities for girls to develop their unique talents, to succeed individually, and to interact effectively with each other and their community.

OUR STUDENTS — The Girls’ School seeks a student body as diverse as our broader local community. Individual students are innately curious, motivated to learn and mindful of their school community.

OUR FACULTY — The faculty are inspiring and effective educators who regularly engage in ongoing professional development opportunities. The collegial exchange of ideas and mutual support creates a vital and engaging dynamic. Girls’ School faculty is well-educated in the developmental and social needs of girls. The School offers attractive compensation to faculty who chose to dedicate their talents to the School. Teachers are encouraged to experiment and advance, just as their students are expected to consistently push the boundaries of their knowledge.

OUR COMMUNITY OF PARENTS — The Girls’ School draws upon a strong network of parents. Their presence, time, and expertise are integral to the success of the girls and of the school.

OUR LOCATION — The Girls’ School takes advantage of its central Austin location by integrating the nearby artistic, political, environmental, and social resources into the curriculum. The School establishes appropriate partnerships with local educational, corporate, non-profit and government organizations to supplement resources and opportunities.

OUR GROWTH — The Girls’ School grows in an organized, supported fashion to the full extent of its capacity at the current location while capping class sizes at 15.

OUR FACILITIES — Facilities are designed to stimulate exceptional and creative instruction as well as mingling of all ages at school community events while being well sized, well maintained, open to the outdoors, environmentally sound, technologically supported and energy efficient.

GOVERNANCE — The School maintains a fiscally sustainable model for outstanding girls’ education on an urban campus. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees that has long-term vision, strong fiscal acumen and is well-grounded in “best” practices for outstanding private schools. The board actively supports and maintains the School’s mission, values and vision and accepts ultimate responsibility for the School’s legal well-being and for its financial and administrative strength and advancement.
