Throw us a Funny Bone

By Jenny Smrekar, Development Director

If you don’t mark your calendar for Friday, April 25th, the joke’s on you! The infamous Vera Carp a.k.a. Jaston Williams, comedienne Abby November, improv superstar Shanna Merlin (a former GSA teacher!) and other very funny ladies will be featured at Women in Comedy at the UT Alumni Center, for The Girls’ School annual gala. We’ll have a cocktail reception, seated dinner, live and silent auctions, and hilarious entertainment – all in support of the continued success of The Girls’ School. What better way to spend a Friday night?

This do-not-miss-feel-good-GSA-social-event- of-the-season is, most importantly, a fundraiser. A very generous group of committed parents has been working hard since October to ensure that GSA meets its financial goals. In addition to bidding on items such as a vacation home in Mexico, an answering machine message recorded by Vera, and numerous opportunities to wine and dine and relax, you will also have a very special opportunity to make a direct contribution to The Girls’ School math and technology fund.

Have you been wondering how else you might help? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Sponsor a table and invite your friends, family, and associates
  • Underwrite an event expense, such as printing or décor
  • Bid on (and win!) live & silent auction items
  • Make a tax-deductible donation
  • Volunteer

Contact Jenny Smrekar for more info: by email or at 383-5891.

So mark your calendar for April 25th and bring your family and friends – it will be a fantastic, fun, and FUNNY way to introduce them to The Girls’ School. We promise you’ll still be laughing and smiling during drop-off on Monday morning!
