Operation Blue Santa
By Kristen Brewer
Each year we choose a local holiday community project as an opportunity to unite our students with the local community. This year the kindergarten, first, and second grade classes worked together to contribute over 35 gifts to the Austin Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa Project. We delivered our gifts to the local Fire Station 10 up the road from the school. The firefighters were amazed as they watched us fill their empty box to capacity. The firefighters of Fire Station 10 were extremely gracious, letting the girls tour the firehouse and fire truck. They are getting to know the GSA girls well. The middle school robotics team, Run-it Silver, did an energy audit of Fire Station 10 for their recent Robotics Competition.
Our lower school GSA charity project helped our students to learn about giving and compassion for others. In addition, they got the opportunity to see the immense help they can give others when they work together. Thanks for your assistance in making our charity project a success!
