Shakespeare in the Classroom
By Linda Elliott
On December 18, the fifth grade class performed selected scenes from William Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The performance was a culmination of two months of reading and play-production during language arts. The girls were involved in all aspects of the play from learning lines, to developing costumes and props, and creating heraldry banners to decorate our “Globe Theatre.” Special thanks go out to Andrew Poles for helping the girls with lines; Joy Cunningham for helping to stage and direct scenes; and Nancy Hoover for costumes and set decorations.
