Gala Volunteer Help

"Passing Notes:" It's Gala Time!

The Second Annual Girls’ School of Austin Gala will be Sunday, May 6. This year’s theme is Passing Notes: Women in the Music Industry, and the event will be held at Antone’s. Marcia Ball, Nancy Coplin and Darcie Deaville are confirmed speakers; Sara Hickman, Big Jyl, Martie Maguire, and Kelly Willis are tentative participants. In addition to dynamic speakers from the music industry the Gala will feature live music and a silent auction.

The party will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and then our featured guests will answer questions composed by the student body of GSA. Students will study our speakers in class to learn about their jobs in the music industry and come up with questions about their work. A moderator will pose the questions; seventh and eighth grade students are encouraged to attend this otherwise adultsonly event.

The goal of the party is to raise the visibility of GSA and its educational strengths in the Austin community. GSA would also like to attract a wider audience as a way to raise money from outside our smaller GSA community. It costs over $10-thousand to educate each student at GSA and the Gala and Annual Fund are important ways to bridge the gap.

Gala committees are now inviting GSA families and friends to contribute in the form of party sponsorships, silent and live auction items as well as volunteer help. Please email Ali Garnel if you or your company would like to be a sponsor and Jennifer Hotz if you can contribute an item for one of the auctions. We need every family to help to make this Gala the best ever!
