Art Beat
by Nicolette, Middle School studentThe New Year has brought us winter trees and snowy landscapes for grades K-5, with ink and watercolor. The middle school has been focusing on acrylic painting and technique and the results have been remarkable!
Now, the whole school is doing lithography, a form of printmaking involving aquasticks, canvas, handmade paper, and our 200-pound etching press!
Each girl will print her work several times. We hope to frame some of these masterpieces and offer them for auction at our spring Gala!
Spring self-portraits on canvas are coming, but first we will study Frida Kahlo, Botticelli, and the art of Edgar Degas—complete with ballerina models in sculpture, Mrs. Hoover and our new sculpture teacher, Ms. Cottan, are inspiring us to create ourselves in clay—as animals!
