Newton's Apple
YOU MUST SEE THIS!A wonderful thing happened to GSA in December! Mr. Leon sent an email asking if anyone would be interested in training a Sony robot dog. Interested? Thrilled was more like it! Mrs. Lamare contacted Mr. Leon and the fabulous donation was made on the day of the science fair.
GSA now has a full robot mascot named Aibo (named by Sony). Our robot dog has its own needs and emotions. It uses tonal language (beeps and whistles) and body language to communicate. Using its infrared distance sensor, Aibo freely roams the classroom and constantly learns from its environment. It forms a unique personality based on its individual experiences. Our Aibo also has voice recognition and can obey 75 voice commands. It can learn your name and it knows its own name. Whenever Aibo feels like it, it has the ability to take a digital photo of whatever interests it. The robot saves the images as JPEG files in a memory stick that can be removed and played back on a computer.
Is this great or what?? As soon as we charged up Aibo and turned him on, he kicked his ball and tried to get the students to play with him!
The eighth grade will be learning more about Aibo's programs and abilities and will demonstrate his robotic excellence to the K-7 grade classes during Girls in Engineering week (February 18 - 24)
THANK YOU MR. LEON!!!
