Scholastic Art Awards

By Nancy Hoover

The Central Texas Regional Scholastic Art Awards were judged this past Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School and I attended as a volunteer (I was not involved in any of the judging) and will return again this weekend to help hang the show.

There were about 500 individual entries (12 pieces per teacher) from 20 schools(Middle Schools and High Schools) and GSA, with the 12 exceptional pieces entered by GSA girls, took home 8 awards! I am so proud of ALL our 7th and 8th grade girls who had the courage to compete!

THE WINNERS ARE:

Gold Keys:
Maeve (7th Grade) - painting
Ana (7th Grade) - mixed media
Sam (7th Grade) - painting
Maggie (8th Grade) - painting
Megan (8th Grade) - mixed media

Silver Keys:
Lily (8th Grade) - painting
Delaney (8th Grade) - mixed media

Honorable Mention: Jenny (8th Grade) - painting

Congratulations! The Gold Keys will compete in New York for national accolades! The show and reception for the winners, families and friends will take place at St. Stephen’s Helm Art Center on Sunday, January 27th, at 1 p.m.. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the amazing art and cheer on the artists. The show will be up for two weeks. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.

Congratulations!
