Yale Singers Perform at GSA
By Maeve and Gabi, Middle School students
As we all know, girls can do anything. And as we learned Wednesday the ninth, they can sing pretty well, too. That particular Wednesday GSA was visited by Yale’s female acappella singing group, New Blue. The group was made up of about ten women, all majoring in different subjects, who said that they have one thing in common- they love to sing their hearts out. They demonstrated this with several lovely songs, each woman humming or singing a different part. These parts wove together to create an intricate melody. Some of the songs they performed were old classics, but there were also a few light-hearted tunes, combined making a charming medley that was enjoyable for all ages at GSA.
New Blue is currently touring for their winter break. It is a group of very tight friends. As a special treat for us girls, New Blue directed a singing workshop for the students, a few grades at a time. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed it and were very enthusiastic. Everyone surely benefited from the experience. We certainly hope that New Blue will make another visit soon, though it would be hard to top the fun we had last time. Thanks for coming, New Blue!
