Road Trip!

Middle school students in the 7th and 8th grades will take a three-day, two-night trip April 3-5 to Houston and Matagorda Bay to focus on a variety of science topics for an educational excursion away from home.

The group will travel by motor coach and visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see an exhibit of over 150 live frogs, plus the Cockrell Butterfly Center, a stunning exhibit in a natural rainforest setting.

Next stop is the NASA Space Center where the students will participate in hands-on activities and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Johnson Space Center. Our final day will be a coastal investigation of the LCRA Matagorda Bay Nature Park. Students will learn how to use a GPS unit, and then apply this knowledge to mark a trail while kayaking in the estuary. Back on land, the girls will test the samples for various water parameters. Ms. Lamare will be coordinating the curriculum for the trip and be accompanied by two parent chaperones!
