Dell Children’s Hospital Miracle Market
By Nancy HooverIt is tie-dye time again for grades K-8th, for the Dell Children’s Hospital Miracle Market. Our Middle School girls will staff our booth again—they are having a crash course in marketing and retail—as we sell our gorgeous scarves, socks, bags and aprons to raise money for the hospital and the GSA Art program. This community service event takes place at the hospital on December 6, and parents are invited to attend—go to the Dell Childrens’ Hospital web site for more information.
Choices for Children Art Show
By Keira, middle school student
The Choices for Children Art Show and Auction is an art auction that benefits children in Bangladesh. All of the money that was raised at the auctions was used to help children in Bangladesh have food, water, and an education. Some of The Girls School students donated pieces of art that they made in art class that included abstract art. Many other schools also donated art to the auction, along with many other professional artists. Some of the art that was auctioned included hand sewn quilts, beautiful mosaics, and tables painted with elaborate designs. There were also henna tattoos and a lot of activities for kids. The auction raised a HUGE amount of money that could feed many children for a year.
