Third and Fourth Graders Compete in Math Pentathlon Tournaments

In their pursuit to subtract boredom and add excitement to their math learning this spring, the third and fourth graders participated in the Texas Divisions II and III Math Pentathlon tournaments.

The Math Pentathlon Program is highly motivational and strengthens basic math concepts and skills and stimulates both problem-solving and creative thinking skills.  Over the course of the year, the third and fourth grade classes learned and practiced five board games that reinforced particular math skills. The girls then participated in two separate tournaments in late April and early May where they played all five games against students from schools across Central Texas.

Here are the results of the tournaments:

4 & 5th Grade
4 pentathlete ribbons
1 honorable mention ribbon
4 bronze medals
1 silver medals
1 gold hall of fame medal

3rd Grade
1 Pentathleten
