Giving a gift of appreciated stock allows you to make a larger contribution than you might otherwise have been able. By giving the stock directly to The Girls' School you avoid paying capital gains taxes on the increase in value, and you receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value.
Donors are asked to contact their brokers and request that the stock be electronically transferred to the school's account at Smith Barney. Please call 512-478-7827 or email for the proper instructions.
Many corporations match employee contributions to charitable organizations. To find out if your employer is one of them, contact your Human Resources department for the proper forms. This is an easy way to double, and even triple, your contribution to The Girls’ School and receive credit for the entire amount.
